I recall that in the book “Making Good Use of Ozone in Polluted Environments,” the application of ozone in water was described as follows.
1. Daily drinking water treatment: Pour the water to be treated—up to 40 liters—into the ozone waterfall system, where it will remove residual chlorine, kill and eliminate bacteria, remove odors, deodorize, reduce ammonia levels, and oxidize and decompose iron, manganese, and inorganic substances, thereby increasing the dissolved oxygen content in the water. If you plan to drink the water directly, you should stop the machine for 15 minutes first, allowing the O3 in the water to revert back to O2 before consuming it. Tap water treatment takes 40 minutes, while groundwater treatment takes 60 minutes.
2. Vegetable and fruit detoxification, fish and meat preservation: Place vegetables, fruits, fish, and meat into a sink filled with water to about eight-tenths full. Then, insert the silicone tube bubble stone into the sink and inject (O3) to initiate an oxidation process that breaks down pesticide residues and removes antibiotic and hormone residues from meat.
Shrimp and shellfish, treated in the same manner with ozone for 20 minutes, see a reduction in harmful bacteria and antibiotics, enhanced removal of sand from shellfish, and increased tenderness in meat. Fish and shrimp become tender, elastic, and offer an excellent mouthfeel. After treatment, simply rinse once with ozonated water. For vegetables and fruits, the treatment time is 10 minutes; for fish and meat, it’s 20 minutes. The maximum water volume used should be 40 liters.
3. Sterilization of bowls, plates, and tableware: Fill the sink to about eight-tenths full with water, place the tableware and utensils into the water, then use a silicone tube to introduce (O3) for 20 minutes. Next, remove any grease stains with a small amount of dishwashing detergent, and rinse thoroughly with clean water. This process ensures complete sterilization, leaving your items sparkling clean and looking brand-new. The maximum water volume used should not exceed 40 liters.
4. Beauty bathing, hair washing, and health care: Removes blockages from skin pores, promotes whiteness, smoothness, and softness of the skin, and helps prevent aging. It enhances blood circulation and metabolism, revitalizes cells, ensures adequate oxygen supply to peripheral tissues, and provides significant assistance in preventing various diseases, rapidly restoring energy after fatigue, and healing skin disorders. Additionally, it boosts the body’s ability to utilize oxygen in its tissues.
It can eliminate odors inherent in the hair itself as well as the scent of shampoo; it effectively kills pathogenic microorganisms attached to the hair; it also neutralizes the odor of the first-perm solution (which contains alkaline ingredients); moreover, it oxidizes organic solvents found in shampoos, such as formaldehyde and benzene. "Alkaline substances" can break down the protein fibers of the hair, leaving it porous and lacking elasticity, while "sodium bromate" can cause hair to become dry and prone to split ends. The water volume is limited to 400 liters. Additional instructions are provided. Furthermore, after bathing, the chemical wastewater is broken down into non-toxic effluent, preventing secondary pollution—a deed of immeasurable merit.
5. Washing and Mopping: First, place the laundry to be washed into the washing machine and add water. Then, inject air bubbles into the silicone tube containing O3 for about 20 minutes, after which you can remove the O3 tube. This process will effectively sterilize and bleach the clothes. Next, use only one-third of the usual amount of laundry detergent and proceed with your regular washing cycle. By reducing the amount of laundry detergent used, you’ll decrease household wastewater volume, thereby causing less harm to nature—a deed of immeasurable merit. Using ozone-infused water to mop floors can eliminate bacteria from tile grout lines, reduce the amount of cleaning agents needed, minimize the release of chemicals into rivers, and help lower water source pollution. The maximum water volume to be used is 60 liters.
6. For aquariums and toilets: Directly insert a silicone tube into the aquarium. Once ozone molecules enter the water, they immediately transform into primary-level oxygen, effectively eliminating bacteria, viruses, oxidizing impurities, and preventing leftover fish food from rotting. Use once daily. This treatment is effective against parasites on fish skin, tail rot, red spots, scale protrusion, and microorganisms. It can reduce the frequency of water changes, save time, and conserve energy. After bathing, the wastewater containing ozone can be safely flushed down the toilet, where it provides deodorizing and disinfecting benefits.
Note: Ozone generators currently available on the market vary widely in quality. Friends, please be cautious when making your selection—be sure to choose environmentally friendly products that come with the three necessary certifications. Under no circumstances should you purchase products that lack any of these certifications. We recommend using low-pressure electrolysis ozone generators, which operate by passing low-voltage DC current through solid-state membrane electrodes coated with a new type of PEM membrane. At the positive and negative electrodes, ion-exchanged water is electrolyzed. On the special anode solution interface, water molecules are separated into hydrogen and oxygen molecules via proton exchange. Hydrogen gas is directly released from the cathode solution interface, while oxygen molecules, upon being excited by electrons generated under high-density current at the anode interface, gain energy and combine to form ozone molecules. Compared to conventional corona-discharge ozone generators, this method offers the following advantages:
1. The ozone gas produced has a high concentration and a weight ratio several times higher than that of corona-discharge ozone generators, reaching up to 20% (greater than 250 mg/L).
2. The ozone gas produced contains no nitrogen oxides (NOx) and is free of carcinogenic substances.
3. During operation, it is resistant to environmental humidity up to 85%; even in humid environments, it can stably maintain ozone production.
4. Due to the use of low-voltage DC electrolysis, the device does not generate electromagnetic waves or noise during operation and will not cause interference when used in conjunction with other precision instruments.
5. Due to the high ozone concentration generated, using this method with the same amount of ozone introduced into water can achieve a higher residual ozone concentration in the water, enabling effective sterilization and disinfection of drinking water and allowing the production of high-concentration ozonated water (disinfectant).
6. It has a long service life, producing several times more ozone than the corona discharge method.
